Season is in full swing and there are some surprises and some disappointments through Week 5 of the 2017 season.

Surprises would include Wells Angels at 2-3 after an upset over Airport Flyers in Week 5. Big Red has faltered in the last couple of games, but still strong with a 2-2 record. Wells Sox also at 2-2 continues to be a tough out.

Blue Heat and Gold Ru$h appear to be headed for a monumental clash of undefeated teams on the last week of the regular season (barring any rain outs). That game will likely determine the regular season champ and #1 tournament seed.

Now for the bad news...Play2Reign is winless after five games. But let's not bury them just yet. They have struggled, but they have also played the toughest schedule of any team in the league. P2R opponents have a combined record of 15-7 (0.682% win percentage). Wells Royals follows closely with an opponents' record of 12-6 (0.667%) with one less game played.
Many Teams Out to Prove Something This Week!
Several games this week will have a big impact on tournament seedings and whether some teams are going to make a move up in the standings.
-
Big Red has an opportunity to be over the .500 mark beyond mid-season which would be a first in their history with a win over the Royals on Thursday.
-
Uptown Ballers and Airport Flyers have the biggest match up of the week as they square off in a battle of 3-2 teams that can solidify themselves in the #3 spot of the standings. This one should be a offensive showcase.
-
Wells Sox has played the good teams really tough with a couple of 3-run losses to Gold Ru$h and Airport Flyers. Can they pull the upset over 4-0 Blue Heat? If they do, they officially become the dark horse front runner for the tournament.
-
Wells Angels at 2-3 have already exceeded their win totals from the past two regular seasons combined. They surprised the Flyers last week, can they carry that momentum over to this week as they face Gold Ru$h?

Time to Introduce the Wells Royals

Let’s offer a warm welcome to the Wells Royals. Some of the league got a soft introduction to this group during the fall season, but don’t be fooled, this is a completely new team that you’ve never played against.
After talking to captain Jon Harkleroad after the team’s first win of the season over very talented Big Red; I learned this team has a very unique struggle that many teams couldn’t imagine dealing with, a team so big that the male players have to rotate every week for game time.
